AZA16 is the 6th annual conference hosted by the South African Institute of Architects – this time in association with the Wits School of Architecture and Planning. It will be held in Braamfontein and surrounds from 1 to 3 September 2016. It will be a three-day architecture and design festival, showcasing six international and 20 local speakers, over and above workshop and tours. The programme intersperses keynote lectures with parallel sessions which offer delegates a choice of design and professional practice streams. Between the more formal aspects of the programme, a diverse programme of creative activities, exhibitions and informal presentations will bring delegates in touch with speakers in a more relaxed way. The festival delves into the theme of SCALE, how it transcends professions, and the endless array of interpretations it manifests. See for more information.

SAFHE and CSIR are partnering to sponsor the tour to Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital with Serenal Nadar, Ruben Reddy Associates & Caron Schnaid, GAPP Architects. This is scheduled for 12.00pm to 13.30pm on Friday 1 September. This tour is available free of charge to Conference delegates.

SAFHE members can benefit in one of two ways. There are 10 tickets up for grabs to the Nelson Mandela Children’s Hospital tour for persons not registered for the conference, as well as a discount of 50% off full delegate registration fees for any SAFHE member wishing to attend the conference.
